LAMBERHURST PARISH COUNCIL MEETS WITH BEWL WATER MANAGEMENT TO DISCUSS FUTURE PLANS
Councillors representing Lamberhurst, Wadhurst and Flimwell met recently with management of Bewl Water to learn more about future plans for Bewl as a leisure attraction following Wealden District Council`s granting of a licence allowing the sale of alcohol and music entertainment on the 70 acre site.
The meeting was reassuring in that Councillors heard that the main focus of new commercial activity was planned to be relatively small scale `Day Visitor` events many of which would involve children`s activities. According to management the site would not work particularly well for large pop concerts and music festivals.
The schedule of events planned for the current season has been posted on the village website together with details of contacts at Wealden District Council should residents wish to make genuine complaints about noise or abuse of the terms of the licence.
It is planned to hold future such meetings to review the annual events schedule and provide feedback from the local community. The LPC representative on these matters is David Hurst-Brown who can be contacted to provide further information.
What to do if you experience a genuine problem
Residents of Lamberhurst who have genuine complaints about any aspects of events being held at Bewl should telephone at the time of event (if at all possible). Contact details are as follows:
Wealden Environmental Protection Team (daytime) 01323 443555
(out of office hours) 01323 644422
They are able to respond by making an immediate visit to the site.
In addition, the Bewl Water number is:- 07805 926502
As soon as possible thereafter an e-mail should be sent to the Parish Clerk( firstname.lastname@example.org) specifying the complaint and confirming the time of your call to Wealden; this will enable a complete record of complaints to be maintained.”
