1st January 2015 saw the return of the Lamberhurst New Years Day run. This was the second year that the run had taken place and thankfully there were no sideways rain and gale-force winds this time! Better weather helped to attract an additional 100 runners compared to 2014 which was a huge increase. The children's race took place first and approximately 30 boys and girls showed off their running skills by racing up to the war memorial and back. Great effort from all of them, athletes of the future! Then the adults races commenced, with 280 entries across the 5k and 10k races. There were some very quick times and some very impressive running, however the one thing that was consistent across the board was the great attitude and encouragement that the runners showed towards each other. It was a fantastic morning with lots of great feedback from the runners. Thanks to Scotney Castle for allowing the race to pass through their grounds, Your Move for their sponsorship, and to Nice Work events for their race management. A grand total of £2,285 was raised for St Mary's Lamberhurst PTA to help fund an all-weather sports pitch for the school grounds.
